NIKE HUMAN RACE in ROME

Nike, the famous sportive brand is organizing what might be the biggest Nike_Human_Race_at_Streetballrunning competition ever. On this august 13th 2008 millions of people around the world will participate in 10-kilometer races in the most spectacular cities in the world. And what’s the name that comes to mind when you say “Spectacular city”? Rome, of course!
So, if you are a runner and happen to be in the city these days don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience. While taking part in a world-scale event you’ll enjoy as well the most interesting views in the Eternal City. The race will start at 20:00 P.M in the Baths of Caracalla , near the Colosseum, then down via Dei Fori Imperiali and Cavour street to continue trough via Del Corso, the Spanish Steps  and Navona Square , just to name some of the most famous points in the itinerary. Then the participants will take Corso Vittorio Emanuelle to go back to the same area where the racecolosseum-from-the-top started.
If you want to participate you must go first to a Nike Store and pay a 20€ fee that includes the official t-shirt with a unique number that all runners must use. The brand will provide as well a chip that will keep track of the competitors in all the cities where the race will take place. That information will be used then to make an international classification.
In every city, a celebrity of sport will promote the race, so in Rome you’ll be able  to see around the legenday champion Carl Lewis who will start the race. And once the running is over the fun will go on, because a concert will take place in every venue of the Human Race. In Rome, the italian group Subsonica carl_lewiswill play near the Circus Maximum.
And just in case all these reasons (the fun and the excitment of exploring Rome in a very original way) weren’t enough, by running the Human Race you’ll help three very important non-profit organizations: the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the World Wildlife Fund’s global-warming initiatives and the United Nations Refugee Committee.
As everybody knows, having a good place to rest is essential to run a good race. At Hotel Des Artistes you’ll find the ideal option for your Roman accomodation.

Italian Super Cup (Supercoppa Italiana)

Winners of Soccer in Italy

In Italy, every year in August since 1998, the two teams who won the Serie A and the Coppa Italia in the previous season play a pre-season football competition held the week before the season begins: the acknowledged Italian Super Cup!

The two teams usually play at the home of the Serie A champions, even though in 1993 the Super Cup was played in Washington D.C., and in 2003 it was held in New York (that edition was won by F.C. Juventus who defeated A.C. Milan).

A.C. Milan has won the Italian Super Cup most of the times, five times since the competition began in 1988.

Last year, in August 2007, the 20th edition was played in Milan, at San Siro; the Cup was won by A.S. Roma, Coppa Italia champions.

The next Italian Super Cup (the 21st edition) will be held in Milan again, at San Siro Stadium; the match will be played on August 24th between A.S. Roma and Inter.

Totti, the most famous italian football player of the Roman team, is not sure to play this very first match of the new season because he snapped his anterior cruciate ligament during a match against Livorno at the end of April, and had to undergo surgery.
It was originally estimated that he would be out of action for up to six months, however his recovery is going so well that it has been reported that he will be fit to lead his side in the Italian Supercup.

Infact, on the most recent tests, Totti is running again and has already started working with the ball. By the way, did you know that Francesco Totti, who also is a father, is an active member of the UNICEF in Rome ?

He is doing his best in order to play this match, training very hard; everyone knows how important it is to have Totti in the team; he scored 14 Serie A goals last season from just 25 games.

So if you are a fan of "calcio" (name for soccer or football in italian) you may just want to come to Italy to enjoy the best players in action and book your hotel in Milan.

Every summer, for the past eight years, the city of Rome is being obsessed by joyful and colorful appointments of music and spectacle not to be missed.

From 19 June and till 17 August 2008 the Ippodromo  delle Capannelle in Rome hosts the

fourteenth edition of Fiesta!: International Festival of Latin American Music and Culture!

Rome hosts this festival  for several years. I would like to say that this event has been really appreciated and followed by millions of viewers.  Come to Rome during this summer and prepare  yourselves to the rhythms of South American dances, performed by the best international artists.

This is Fiesta, a real village of Music and Culture of  Latin America in Rome, taking place at the Ippodromo delle Capannelle, on a surface of 8o.ooo sqm, with an area of 7,000 parking spaces. The initiative was established in November 1996, thanks to an innovative group of entrepreneurs who decide to create something very unique and enthralling.

The programming of the music Fiesta! – 2008 is  being taken care by the artistic director Mansur Naziriche that has gathered a billboard full of artists and evenings – event in world’s exclusive. Among the novelty of the festival this summer there were the imagegroup Aventura on 10th July in world ’s exclusive, Monchy and Alexandra

on the August 5th. For the traditional music instead you will find so many names  dear to Fiesta! as Charanga Habanera, Los Van Van who performed on July 1st, Oscar D’Leon, who performed on July 21st, Elio Revè, who  performed on July 25th, Manolito Simonet , who performed on July 31st, Maykel Blanco- on July 20th and many others.  But, please do not get desperate, you have not missed everything. Still there will be Samba Earth on August 10th from Brazil.image

Fiesta! will host the concert of "La Banda Nueva Generacion." The appointment is  scheduled for August 4 from 22 PM on Stage Latino  of the Ippodromo delle Capannelle (The price is 10 euros).
The group was founded in 1988,  and consists of Jose Luis Cortes,  its leader better known as "El Tosco."  Top figure of Cuban music of the last 10 years, precursor of Timba, and musician attentive to all musical influences, Cortes combines a solid musical training of orchestration of a domain that derives from previous experiences with "Van Van" and "Irakere"  groups of the decade  of the 70-80-ies.
Ranging from rap to classical music, Brazilian rhythms to jazz and rock, "El Tosco"  and its banda are distinguished by a repertoire that addresses all Cuban rhythms with the same richness and rhythmic arrangements with insurmountable. "Nueva Generacion La Banda" was able to create their own unmistakable style and a popular success thanks to the skill of the musicians that make up the brass section, better known as "Los Metales of Terror", as well as bassist Feliciano Arango ‘ the great voices of Tony Cala ‘and even Issac Delgado before his  career as a solist.

Do not miss summer beats and join me in a mission of full immersion into Cuban music. Visit Rome and book with an Artistic and Nouvel Hotel in Rome- Yes Hotel, take your music and enjoy Roman summer at the Ippodromo delle Capannelle.
